The nameSo, what's a splooooot?
You've probably seen it without knowing the word for it.
A dog flops onto the floor, back legs kicked straight out behind it, belly to the ground, not a care in the world. That's a sploot. Corgis are famous for it. Cats do it. Rabbits do it. And yes, turtles do it too, except turtles aren't even trying. Their back legs just live like that. Permanently splooting. Built different.
We loved the word for three reasons.
It's a little bit silly, and we're a little bit silly.
It's the sound of an animal choosing comfort and joy over looking cool. Which is basically our whole thing.
And nobody owns it or takes it too seriously, which felt right for a community that thinks surfing got way too serious.
So "sploot it" became our way of saying: stop performing, flop into the thing, enjoy yourself. Do it your own weird way.
Our "O" does whatever it wants
sploooot
The word is built to stretch. That extra "o" in splooooot isn't a typo, it's the logo doing a little sploot of its own. Short, long, one "o" or ten, it's still us. Stretch it however the mood hits.
