Terms of use
Last updated: July 22, 2026
Short version: Sploot is a free community for learning to surf. Be kind. Don't break stuff. Take AI answers as a helpful start, not gospel. Long version below.
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Sploot, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. Simple as that.
2. Who can use Sploot
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Union). If you're under the local age of majority, you also need permission from a parent or guardian. Accounts must belong to a real human. No bots, no impersonation.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your email access secure. Since we use passwordless sign-in, whoever controls your inbox controls your account. Notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post on Sploot (posts, spots, photos, comments). By posting, you grant Sploot a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, host and distribute that content solely to operate and promote the service. You can delete your content anytime and this license ends, except for reasonable backups.
5. Community rules
Don't post any of the following. It'll get removed and your account may be suspended:
- Harassment, hate speech, threats or personal attacks.
- Sexual content, especially anything involving minors.
- Doxxing, private info of others, revenge posts.
- Localism-style gatekeeping. This is the whole reason Sploot exists. Don't.
- Spam, scams, crypto pitches, MLM recruitment.
- Illegal content or anything that infringes someone else's rights.
- Fake photos or misleading spot info that could put beginners in danger.
6. AI-generated content disclaimer
Board Matcher, the Living Glossary and the daily community prompt use AI to generate their answers. That means:
- Recommendations are educational, not professional coaching or medical advice.
- Board volume is a starting point. Talk to a local shaper or instructor for the final call.
- Never surf a spot, size or condition you're not ready for, no matter what any tool says.
- The ocean doesn't care about tools. Respect it, check conditions, and when in doubt, don't paddle out.
7. Acceptable use of the service
Please don't:
- Reverse engineer, scrape or resell Sploot.
- Overload our servers or abuse the AI endpoints.
- Try to break authentication, access other users' data, or bypass rate limits.
- Use Sploot to train competing AI models without written permission.
8. Intellectual property
The Sploot name, wordmark, turtle mark, visual identity, code and copy are ours (or our licensors'). You may reference Sploot fairly, but don't imply partnership or endorsement without permission.
9. Third-party services
Sploot uses third-party providers for hosting, sign-in and AI. Their terms apply to those parts of the experience. We choose them carefully, but we can't guarantee their availability.
10. Termination
You can delete your account anytime by writing to hello@sploot.it. We can suspend or remove accounts that break these Terms, especially the community rules. When possible, we'll tell you why.
11. Service provided as-is
Sploot is free and provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent allowed by law. We work hard to keep it reliable, but we can't promise it'll always be online, bug-free or perfect for your specific need.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sploot and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of data, missed sessions, or injuries in the water. You surf at your own risk. Always.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Sploot grows. If the changes are meaningful, we'll notify you by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of the city of Florianópolis, State of Santa Catarina, unless local consumer protection law says otherwise.
