Ocean safety
What do I do when I wipe out on a wave?
Curl up, cover your head, let the wave finish, then swim up gently to your board.
Do not panic-swim to the surface, you might come up under your board or another wave. Tuck into a loose ball with hands protecting your head, relax, and let the wave roll through. When the tumbling stops, follow your leash up. Take a breath, look around for the next wave, then get back on the board. Getting comfortable underwater is a skill. Practice breath holds on land, not on the wave that scared you.
