What length leash should I use?
About the same length as your board, or slightly longer. Never shorter.
Match the leash to your board length. A 9-foot longboard takes a 9-foot leash, a 6-foot shortboard takes a 6 or 7-foot leash. In bigger surf, go one size longer so the board doesn't snap back at you. Replace leashes every season. A snapped leash in overhead surf is genuinely dangerous.
